Rachel Brooks
Born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area, Rachel began her career and family in Seattle. As part of the San Juan Island community, Rachel is an officer of the San Juan Island Grange and a parent at Friday Harbor Middle School and High School. She was inspired to join the board of the San Juan Island Home Trust by its skilled, driven staff and the critical role its mission plays in the well-being of the island.
In addition to several previous board roles, her career spans the non-profit, technology, and social enterprise sectors both in the US and internationally. She began in marketing and communications at Adobe Systems, later taking on roles at Microsoft and LizardTech. Her international experience includes six years in Southern and Eastern Africa, where she worked primarily in rural microfinance and co-founded and led Echo Mobile, a mobile engagement platform acquired by Africa’s Talking, as CEO. Most recently, Rachel served as Executive Director of The Prosperity Agenda, a national non-profit dedicated to advancing human-centered community services.
