Dan Grausz
My wife Clare, a children’s book author, and I moved from New York to Washington in 1980 and have never looked back. We raised two children in the Seattle area and now have five grandchildren. We bought property on San Juan Island in 2001, built our house the next year and now spend about half of our time greatly enjoying life in Friday Harbor.
I did my undergraduate work at Cornell University and then went to the University of Pennsylvania, where I received my JD and MBA degrees. After leaving private practice in 1988, I spent the next 25 years first as General Counsel and then as Executive Vice President, Fleet Operations for Holland America Line, Windstar Cruises and Seabourn. I also served for 18 years on the Mercer Island City Council. When I left the cruise industry in 2013, I was determined to find good uses for my time and give back to the community by working with non-profits through pro bono legal work and Board participation. That is why working with the Home Trust is such an honor.
If you see some guy walking a curly-haired cocker spaniel (Jack) around town, please say hello.
