Mission of the San Juan Community Home Trust

San Juan Community Home Trust creates permanently affordable housing for low- and moderate-income island residents, promotes economic diversity and development, and supports a sustainable island community while practicing responsible stewardship of our rural environment.

The mission of The San Juan Community Home Trust, stated above, aims to make home ownership possible for working people on San Juan Island. In recent years the gap between earned wages and housing prices has increased so much that it is now almost impossible for wage-earning residents to purchase a home on San Juan Island.

“Community preservation though forever affordable housing” is another way of expressing the Home Trust’s desire to keep San Juan Island a vibrant and diverse community, where people of all ages and income levels can thrive.
