Board MembersKristine Odle, Board President Kristine Odle currently is involved in three businesses all conducted from San Juan Island: a national business ownership consulting practice; a vacation rental accommodation in the town of Friday Harbor; and working as a realtor with Friday Harbor Realty. Prior to moving to San Juan Island, she worked in the health care field researching and developing new preventive care programs and services. She earned a BA from the University of Washington in English and Education, and an MSW from Rutgers University in the Management of Human Services Organizations. Roberta Leed, Board Treasurer Roberta moved here in 1989 from Iowa, where she owned a law office and 3 stick-built homes with her husband. She worked in the SJC Planning Department, Building Department, Assessor's Office, and Permit Center prior to running a real estate appraisal business for 5 years. She is now the owner of wholesale mortgage brokerage. Roberta owned a single-wide mobile and currently owns a manufactured home, as a single parent on SJI. She has three kids, now all graduated from high school, and is active in community theater. Emily Wolf, Board Secretary Emily and her husband Chris moved to the island in 2003 when Chris was hired to teach at Friday Harbor Middle School. A Skagit County native, Emily holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Western Washington University and a master’s degree in teaching from Pacific University. She worked for the San Juan Island school district as a substitute teacher for two years until she segued from a volunteer to a staff member at the San Juan Island Library. A Salal neighborhood resident since August 2005, Emily enjoys strolling with her two young children, hiking and jogging around the island, cooking in her new kitchen, and working at the public library. Kerry Andrews Kerry and her husband Darryl have lived on San Juan Island for nearly 7 years. They are now homeowners at the Salal Neighborhood and proud parents of two little girls. Before Kerry became a full-time at-home mom, she worked at McMillan’s Restaurant at the local Roche Harbor Resort. Darryl works in the construction field and has contributed many volunteer hours to the Salal Neighborhood. Sam Buck Sam Buck is a third generation islander with 5th generation grandchildren. He has been a Realtor on San Juan Island since 1988 and has a background in farming, commercial fishing and extensive experience the field of natural health. Sam has been involved with and supportive of the need for affordable housing since his first meeting with Larry Soll some 3 or more years ago. Larry had put a lot of time and energy into trying to secure a parcel that Sam had suggested to him, and when that turned out to be a serious disappointment, Sam suggested that maybe he could help his cousins see how this could be a win-win situation for them. They saw the vision, understood the need and once again, Larry expended tremendous effort as they collectively spent many hours to bring it all together as a real possibility. “I enjoy seeing children on the streets and in the schools. Having affordable housing insures children will always be a part of our community” - Sam Peter Kilpatrick Peter Kilpatrick has lived on San Juan Island for 33 years. He is the President and owner of Ravenhill Construction, Inc., the largest residential contractor in San Juan County with 29 full-time employees. Peter Kilpatrick has been a volunteer fire fighter for 15 years and is currently Lieutenant of Station 6. He is chairman of the Home Trust’s Building Committee and has donated countless volunteer hours to the Home Trust’s building projects. Roger Salquist Roger currently serves on the advisory board of the University of Washington Friday Harbor Research Laboratories and has served for eight years as a member of the board of trustees of the University of San Francisco. Roger has extensive experience in business and management including an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Roger is the former managing director of Bay City Capital and recently joined the board of directors of Lipomics Technologies of Sacramento, California. Roger is currently chair of our fundraising committee. Lori Stokes Lori, who has a B.A. from Brown University, has worked for over 30 years as a human resources professional, primarily in the field of higher education. Before moving to the island six years ago, she served several terms on the board of Community Action Marin, the anti-poverty agency in Marin County, California, where her interest in affordable housing took hold. She is currently an active volunteer for both Soroptimists and the San Juan Community Theatre. She is co-founder of the San Juan Island Anti-Litter Initiative, and is also involved in a grass-roots effort to establish an off-leash dog park for our residents and their faithful furry friends. Laura Tuttle Laura and her husband, Doug Tuttle, purchased their home in University Heights in 2001 and moved full time to San Juan Island in 2007. She is an attorney licensed to practice in the State of California and prior to moving to San Juan Island, practiced criminal defense, juvenile law and family law in San Anselmo, California. Some interests and activities of Laura’s have included: PTA at Sir Francis Drake High School, in San Anselmo, California; fund-raising for three sober grad nights, as well as chaperoning the events and school dances, and attending sports events her sons engaged in. She has been active in Petaluma, California for the past nine years assisting in organizing the neighborhood hilltop garage sale and organizing the bi-annual neighborhood Summer-Fall potluck. Other interests and activities have included heading an Architectural Review Committee from 1999 2002, and serving as assistant treasurer to the Anchor Bay Homeowner’s Association in Anchor Bay, California. She also enjoys reading, gardening, hiking, and boating with her husband. In July, 2007, Laura enjoyed being one of the Live Auction clerks at the children’s 4-H Auction here at the San Juan County Fair. |
